Debian / Ubuntu packages

Hi Debian and Ubuntu users,

We now have https://github.com/horizon-eda/horizon-deb to provide upstream-maintained packages for ubuntu and debian.

Before making them an officially supported way of installation I’d be glad if someone could test them on their system to see if they work as intended.

I’ll test Bionic, 18.04. I suggest to display distro version numbers in addition to the name…I had to look mine up

I tested on Bionic and the build appears to be working fine.

Installation instructions needed some tweaking:

curl https://bintray.com/user/downloadSubjectPublicKey?username=bintray | sudo apt-key add -

sudo add-apt-repository ‘deb https://dl.bintray.com/horizon-eda/horizon-eda-bionic horizon-eda-bionic main’

Done

add-apt-repository is nonstandard

you can make it work on debian with sudo apt-get install software-properties-common

I think ‘add-apt-repository’ is a lot more beginner friendly and less error prone so it might be worth installing.
